Food Trip: Kraaaaazy Garlik! :)

What took me so loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong???? well as some of you would know (if you saw it in the news or something), a certain region in the Philippines (specifically the one where I live), experienced literally non-stop rains for 2 weeks and to think there was no typhoon and only monsoon rains. Visibility was just....bad! haha

This monsoon caused so much flooding that for a few days, classes and work were suspended. I think that the flooding 2 years ago during Typhoon Ondoy was worse because in a span of 6 hours, the floods in some areas reached like 25ft. This year's flooding reached almost the same level but slowly.
This is not even the bad flood yet. This is only about 2 feet high or less.

Anyway, so what did I do? Since we can't really help in relief stuff just yet and we were stuck in a mall (all roads home were flooded so we had to wait for it to subside), we watched the premiere of Bourne Legacy :) Just a quick note, the movie was great except for the start which was long, and dragging and BORING, but after awhile, the film becomes action packed (and not to mention, the scenes were filmed, here in the Philippines ;)) and the fact that the film had a confusing plot (did it even have one?)

We were in the Resorts World Newport Mall anyway, so after the movie my sister and I ate at this restaurant called Krazy Garlic :) I've never eaten in that restaurant before but we had been going to RW for the past few years, I've never tried this restaurant so I suggested that we eat there.
This is their Amazing Krazy Garlik Salad, which had the little best seller logo beside the name in the menu. This dish is one of the best salads I've ever eaten in my life. According to the menu, it's an Asian salad mix with cucumber, bell pepper, onions and oriental chicken strips tossed in sesame lime dressing and my favorite part, it's topped with crispy fried wanton strips and peanut sauce.  This dish if shared (3-4 persons) costs PhP475 or US$11.30 and if you get the regular size (good for 2), it's PhP275 or roughly US$6.54
Being a rice eater, I just had to order extra rice because we ordered chicken :)
Another one of their best sellers is the 40 Kloves Chicken which I really love. Now I know why it's a best seller. It bursts with flavor! It's their chicken marinated in their original garlic creamed sauce, simmered slowly in 40 kloves :) It's just reeeeeally good. The regular size, which is about the size of a half spring chicken and good for 2 persons cost PhP395 or US$9.40 and their shared size (good for 4-5) cost PhP695 or US$16.54.
We love salad so much that we ordered another one. We ordered the Krazy Garlik Wrap which is something like the mined chicken salad wrap of this Vietnamese restaurant we like, Pho Hoa. This dish has stir fried mined chicken and turnips, with ripe mango strips, garlic chips and coconut flakes. This has their garlic sauce, hoisin and chili sauce on the side :)

yuuuuuuuummyyyyy! I actually want to go and eat there again right now as I write this. I hope I can bring the other members of my family there and I'm sure I'll be back there to try out their other dishes :)

y ya'sta! hasta luego!! besos y abrazos chicos!!! <3

Food Trip: Cobo Part II and Kwek Kwek

Hola! I am back with Part II of my Cobo Bubble Tea and Snow Ice entry. If you haven't seen the first one you may click here. I am also including in today's entry, one of my favorite street foods, the "Kwek Kwek" :)

Kwek Kwek is quail eggs dumped in some kind of batter and deep fried and looks like this. You'll see more of that later.
...and now back to the Cobo part. I was called by Ms. Shirley once again to do a stand upper. so before heading to the GMA Office, I stopped by Cobo to get something for the people in the office.

I got this Sky's Special Bubble Burstea Drink which is yoghurt flavored. It was pretty good but I still prefer the Red Tea Lychee thing my mum ordered the other day. This one costs PhP80.00 or US$1.95 for the 16oz drink
and this Kiwi Kick drink for MS. Shirley because she told me once how much she loves Kiwi :)same price for this one, PhP80.00 or US$1.95
.
Here are the toppings they use for the drinks and the snow ice. I personally like the lychee bursting bubbles :) I ordered the Snow Ice, which is the flavored shaved ice, in strawberry, and lychee bursting bubbles for the toppings :) The solo size which is apparently good for 2 poeple costs PhP40.00 or US$0.95
I ordered their Taiwanese chicken that I reeeeeally really love. The taiwanese Chicken comes in different flavors. You can choose among
Salt and Pepper
Mexican Pepper and Salt
Curry Pepper and Salt
and Green Tea Pepper and Salt.

Do not be deceived by the picture. The Chicken is the one in the cardboard tray above and not the one in the styro. The one in the Styro was "sisig"
There was a hungry little girl in the office waiting so I gave the 3 more pieces left of the chicken
Yeah I know I forgot to take a picture of the chicken because it was really good. I only remembered not having taken the picture yet after seeing the box empty. silly me.. But if the chicken skin were a bit crispier, it would've been the award winning chicken for me.This cardboard tray carried 12-15 pieces of chicken..this costs PhP70.00 or  US$1.66
Ms. Shirley loved the Kiwi Kick! :) I tried it too and it was really good. It was even better than the Sky's High drink I ordered for myself.
After chow time, we did a little stand upper thing outside the GMA building
...and voice overs....
...and so with Ms. Shirley and her interviews with the sick patients asking for help...
...and then we were out again looking for food. This time, they wanted me to try something. They know how much I looooooove street food like Kwek Kwek (the one I mentioned above), so they brought me to their favorite place which was only a few meters from the building.
There were plenty of people who came to eat their snack here :) Here's the guy cooking the Kwek Kwek. You see the orange stuff in that rectangular container? That's the batter I mentioned earlier.
Here are the quail eggs that he dumps 1 by 1 in the batter and then he gives them a good frying, deep frying :)
and here's the finished product.... This is really really good with vinegar and chili.

Ms. Leng and Ms. Maria ate something else. Ms. Leng ate Banana-cue or Fried Caramelized Banana on a stick, and for Ms. Maria she got corn :)

Ms. Shirley got Kwek Kwek too

You can pay before eating or you can pay after, you just have to tell them how many you got :) It was a treat from MS. Shirley so I wasn't exactly able to ask how much but it's really affordable, clean and good :) The location is just a canopy outside of a house so you're sure that the stuff is clean.

that's it for today's entry, hasta luego chicos!

Food Trip: Sakae Sushi - All You Can Eat Sushi

Hi everyone! I have been going on a food trip recently since we arrived home from Macau and since it was my Aunt's birthday last 15 May, we ate out with her.
We ate at this restaurant called Sakae Sushi which is a sushi bar or sushi restaurant with the conveyor belt

You still have a choice i you want to have the unlimited Sushi or a la carte. It'a actually very affordable

We chose the couch seats right beside the conveyor belt for convenience. Here's my aunt (the birthday girl) right beside sushi fest :)

So much sushi going around, it was so hard to choose.

If you noticed, the plates have different colors because for those who do not want the unlimited sushi, they can just take plates from the belt and each plate color has a corresponding price, so they'll just get the total after
And here's the corresponding price depending on the plate color

In our case, we had unlimited sushi so JUST GET AND GET! :)

My mum didn't want the unlimited sushi and just got Sukiyaki

I loooooooved the Kani Salad Sushi... And now begins the plate stacking part :)

Even Olivier our cousin had stacks beside him

This green thing, i have no idea what it's called but it was good at first. It tasted the the fish roe was dumpe in wasabi or something. It was spicy in a wasabi way, the type of "spicy" that comes out of your nose... But after about 3 pcs of this, it hurt my throat so i change my mind. I don't like it very much anymore :p

There are 4 branches in Manila:
SM Mall of Asia
SM City North Edsa
Robinsons Place Manila
And The Fort
The challenge for us whenever we eat here is to eat more than what we paid for or at least break even. Haha :)
My only problem with the sushi is that it has too much rice in it so you get full right away. But overall, i like this restaurant and would recommend it to people who love eating challenges :)

China Day 4: Venetian and City of Dreams

Pic of the Day: Strolling Down San Luca District :)

Please note that we go shopping also but i would like to put our hauls in a separate post because these day to day thing are already photo and text heavy as it is :)

Today was a relaxed day, we did not have to wake up so early but our "chieftains" decided to take us to the City of Dreams to watch the Dragon's Treasure Show. Apparently it's a dome show with the whole dome filled with animated graphics... It's like being transported inside the TV or something like that.

We ate breakfast at McDonald's and i had hot chocolate....

And the Sausage McMuffin :)

After breakfast we took a shuttle bus to the City of Dreams

As soon as you enter, the first thing you'll see is this large screen that has water falling on it's surface for an underwater effect because on the screen is a projection of mermaids swimming and other sea creatures. It's so surreal. Here's my sister and a mermaid behind her :)

My mum trying to touch it :)

...and now inside the Dragon's Treasure Show

The story...well there's no story. But it just showed different worlds with different guardian dragons but the graphics were out of this world!! It's not like Universal Studios 4D thing where you have to ride something. You just stand inside the dome and watch around you

It costs MOP$50 but it's really worth it.

After the show, my sister and i just felt like playing around :)

Eating in the City of Dreams is no problem at all. You just have to go to the 2nd floor and visit Food Paradise

Food Paradise is like a food court with a twist. You first have to go around and look at the names of the concessionaires and choose the what you want and list down the code. After that, go to the cashier, give your list or tell them (if you can speak chinese), pay then they give you this piece of paper with the food you want and then go back to the stalls/areas you wanted to get food from, show them the paper and then you're good. It's either they tell you to wait a few minutes or they give it to you right away then they cross out the item on your paper.

As for me i ordered Hainanese chicken which i shared with my sister

If you've ever wondered phat the Macau money looks like, here's a sample of 1 Macau Pataca

The older folks with us decided to separate from us and let us go wherever we wanted so Ryan, Reine and I decided to take a shuttle to The Venetian.

We walked around and checked out the Gondolas which we weren't able to see the evening we visited the Venetian.

Reine and Ryan on the bridge :)

...watching the Gondola from the bridge

And because Venetian is such a beautifil place, we can't leave without taking pictures

Welcome to the Great Hall :)

Later a magician duo performed near the great hall and even asked me to participate at the last part :)

YouTube Video

After this we met up with our families at the Venetian good court and ate Fat Burger :) then we just had our picture taken with the statue people in Sands Hotel who happen to mostly be Filipino and then we retired for the night :) let me close this entry with those pictures.
