Day 75: Sulú - Filipino Restaurant in Madrid

This morning i woke up really late because i talked to my family between 01:00 and 02:30.

I was supposed to go to a museum but since i woke up late i just decided to stay home and fix my stuff.

Oh here's picture of the day :)

Irina came back thia afternoon from the concert in Cadiz and i am glad because that means we can all eat dinner at the Filipino restaurant here in Madrid :)

In class today we changed classrooms because our old classroom was so crowded and the lighting is really bad

Oh by the way i tried to look for a pay phone in school and when i did i could not use it because look! It's the yellow thing. It's so high up i can't reach it! Hahahahaha! I had to ask help from Claudia who was taller and can reach it but she still had to tip toe to read what was written in the screen.

Anyway, after class, i went straight home to reat and prepare myself for our dinner.

Mamá Eva decided to drive because it's better than taking the metro and having to walk far to reach the place. If any of you are interested in trying out Filipino food, the address is:

Paseo de la Castellana, 172 Madrid28036
Schedule: Monday to Saturday13:15 to 16:00 and 20:15 to 00:00 / Sundays 13:15 to 16:00
How to get there: Linea 10 Cuzco

Goofing around with Julieta :)

There it is! Sulú :) This retaurant is in Paseo Castellana and the only Filipino Restaurant so far, listed in Madrid's guide books.

Mamá Eva ordered Pancit Bihon which was a bit bland but with the proper sauce it became better :) but we ordered Rolls de Verano and then Shanghai rolls which is my all time favorite and wow it was good. I also ordered Lumpiang Ubod :) Maybe because I know what my country's cuisine taste like so the food here tasted different. Probably, also because they adjusted the taste to be more adaptable to the Spanish taste buds :) But just the same I am proud to say that there is a Filipino restaurant in Madrid :)

We ordered Fried Rice although i had to remove the shrimps.

It was my treat today. It's my country's cuisine and it's my last week with them (and my last night with Irina) and so it was my treat :) i had a picture with my dear Irina :)

Mamá Eva and her car when we arrive home :)

We enjoyed each other's company tonight. I really love my Spanish Family and also Julieta. I'm lucky to have them :)

Day 69: Study Hard while Partying Hard :)

Tonight i am going back to Ya'sta for the Fluor party :) because Secci, and María de Almería will be there and it's a good time to ask my questions because my exam is tomorrow :) hahaha! I know it's weird. Party before the exam :p

Here's a picture of Secci, me and another pretty María, María Zaragosa :) so much Marías here i think i have to change my name to María too.

Anyway, my day started boring as usual. I studied my old exercises and yeah basically morning is study time.

When Mamá Eva arrived, she cooked something for lunch :) Paella!!! But this one is special because unlike in the Philippines where we use chicken and seafoods, here some people like Mamá prefer conejo... bugs bunny... playboy RABBIT :) hahahaha!

She's an excellent cook!!

I asked her why did she not start her own business and she said she wanted to but she would prefer cooking for her students and a smaller group :)

After lunch, i went to school and wow was the lesson diffiult today. Ugh... Or maybe i just need to rest my mind.

But anyway, Yahan brought us Turron. Now i know what Turron is. If you guys read my Huelva post when i viaited Huelva, i ate ice cream Turron flavor :) it's Nougat :)

After class, i went straight home to read a little more, and prepared for tonight. An we had paella again for dinner and i love it!!!

When i got off at Gran Vía, i walked around a little because i was a bit early. Yes 24:30 is early here in Madrid. And then i bumped into María de Rusia or María Ozerova :) and since the place was not open yet we devided to go to another one first

I forgot the name but the ambience was great and then we had a Malibu con Piña which is now officially my favorite. It took the number 1 spot from Mojito. Those are my favorite drinks that are not too strong.

I will have to say that María is one of the best people i've ever met here in Madrid. She's very funny and she's kind and i love talking to her.

We met a person named Marcelo who had a business near by. He volunteered to take our picture and so we had a little chat because he also wanted to speak english but he has no one to practice with so he spoke english sometimes, and we spoke spanish almost all the way :)

After that we went back to Ya'sta. And por fin! Secci and María de Almería were there!!
And the glowing people!!

Too bad i was not able to take a picture with María de Almería.

I met new friends, Ramon, and María Zaragosa. Yes i was surrounded by Marías :)

And i also met Severin from Switzerland and his friends from France :) sorry i cannot rotate.

And ofcourse my lovely professor and friend Secci and another beautiful María. I love Spanish people. They're so friendly and easy to talk to. And during the party i was such a kill joy because i kept on asking grammatical questions but thy did not mind and i love it when they correct me when i say something with wrong grammar but now i felt more confident to speak because i can actually carry a conversation already :) i don't look as much in my dictionary anymore :) thanks to Secci and his beautiful Tres Marías :)

Notice how everyone needs to crouch a little for a picture with me :) hahahahahahaha i always tell them i am the missing super cool dwarf of Snow White :) and my name is "Hungry" because i love food. Hahahaha!

And then María Ozerova and i decided to call it a day because we have classes :) and look how nice the lighting is in Madrid a night. That's why it's not scary to go home at night ornin the weeeeeee hours of the morning because it's so bright and police still roam around.

And now i have to say i made the most out of this day. It's what we love to say in the Philippines "study hard, party harder"... But i did it equally :) i studied while partying :) hahahahaha! Muy bien! Tres puntos para mi! :) hahaha! No sé porque tres. (i don't know why 3).

Day 56: Filipino Pancit :)

I had really little sleep, but it's ok because i had so much fun last night.

Alana and I went to school as usual, talkin in Spanish and trying o translate stuff :) she's such a nice girl. I actually enjoy her company.

In school, mornings for me are THE WORST! these past few weeks, and my classmates know why. It's the last day of 2 of my classmates, Caroline and Rosie. I'm going to miss them.

I swear my brain does not function in Marisa's class!! I feel stupid in her classes.

I lacked energy because i was tired but i was able to participate in class :) Secci made me explain or summarize the disney movie Atlantis :)

After class i just had to have a picture with Caroline and Ana

I really need to gain back my weight. I lost a lot here, you can see from my arms.

Try to compare. Here'a a picture of me taken by a friend a few weeks before i left the Philippines:

And here's my picture taken a few day ago:

I look healthier when i'm not this thin and when i have bigger cheeks. I had been eating plenty but, yeah. It's hard.

Anyway, I have a picture with Rosie too:

When i arrived home, oh how glad i was! I really needed to sleep. I did and then my folks called me, but i went back to sleep. I wanted to visit a museum this afternoon but i guess i'll just do it tomorrow.

Dinner time and i was so happy because Mamá Eva cooked "pancit"!!! It's a Filipino dish, a type of Filipino noodle dish :)
It was spicier than the typical pancit but it was great!! I ate it with Alana ;)

After dinner i watched the Aviator in Spanish and then now i have to go back to sleep because i have class tomorrow.

Day 53: I'm A Big Girl Now

Today is Alana's firstday of school. Yes, it's Alana :) not Lana...

I had to wake up at 7 because we have to leave at 8. Her exam was at 08:30 :) so i prepared stuff including breakfast for me :)

What a day for the metro of Cuatro Caminos to arrive later than usual :p

But it's funny because Alana is learning Spanish therefore there are things she does not know yet but we speak in Spanish even if we both speak in english. When she does not understand, i just translate it to english for her.

I brought her to the classroom where she was supposed to take her exam and boy was i early for mine... I was alone.... It was so quiet...
Here's Alana taking her exam:

And here's me killing time:

Suuuuuper early...

Finally Bianca arrived followed by David and Caroline... And then some one else came late. Apparently there are supposed to be more of us. 11 i think because a class will be mixed with ours... But it's minus 4... Make that 5 because Chao Liu is missing again..

During Fransisco's class we had a new student aboard, her name was Beatriz and she is from Brazil. She became my partner earlier because she did not have a book and she was right beside me but i don't mind.

After class, i looked for Alana because i have to teach her how to go home but apparently she has culture class and so i wet home ahead because TENGO MUCHO HAMBREEEEEE!!! (I'M HUNGRYYYYY!!!) oh i saw the lady with the "cruella de vil hair" for the nth time this week

When i arrived home there was salad and a sandwhich with tuna but i was really really hungry so i brought out my skyflakes, the remaining tuna spread, and cup noodles from my "boodle bag" :)

¡Madre Mia! ¿Donde esta la comidaaa?? (where's the food??) hahahaha! Wipe out :)

I was so full :) i went to my room to wait for my folks' call and then mi amorcito called me thru skype as well :) estoy contenta (i am very happy)

I rested a bit and decided to go out to check out places since i have only a few weeks left here.

I went to Chueca :) Chueca (or so i heard) is like the Gay Capital of Spain. And every year people come to celebrate the "Dia del Orgullo Gay" ( Proud Gay Day) and it will be this saturday. I came now to see what Chueca is like and there might be a nar or restaurant open that i can try out. But unfortunately everything was still closed... Yeah why wouldn't it be? It was 18:00 and it's too early to open a bar :) it's too hot still.

They're preparing for this saturday's Día/Fiesta Del Orgulloso Gay (Day/Celebration of the Proud Gay)
...which explains the rainbow flag behind me. That is the symbol of the gay community.

I walked too much i did not realize i am already in Quevedo which is a little far but who cares :) i just walked back to Granvía to check out shops. I was able to buy 2 DVDs, "El Aviador" (The Aviator - with Leo Di Caprio) and "La Milla Verde" (The Green Mile - with Tom Hanks) and ofciuese they are in Spanish. And i jist had to get ice cream. It's really too hot here.

I've always been curious as to how Limon taste like. So i ordered Limon (lemon) and Arroz con Leche (Rice with Milk) flavor... Lemon was ok... It's like frozen lemonade. The rice with milk is a little like "Champorado" but not chocolate but it was good. It had a few grains of rice in it.

After that i decided to go home...

In the metro on the way home there were these Filipino girls younger than me who were making so much noise i wanted to kick them but it was great tjat my stop was next.

And in the station i found this add of Lebara Movil and they exchanged the flags i the Philippines with Bolivia's :)

I arrived home Mama Eva was already preparing dinner.

We ate dinner at the salon :) we had the best burger patty in the world, salad, chips, etc

And por fin! I have a random shot with Irina :)

Well i am really sleepy now and i have classes tomorrow so
