China Day 5: Goodbye Macau, Til We Meet Again

Pic of The Day: Luuuuuunch

Today marks the end of our short trip, but i'm sure we'll be back here because Macau and HK are only 2 hours away from Manila and no Visas needed :)

We started the morning by finishing our luggages... No that black thing is not our luggage. It's only where we put our pants and polo shirts :p

Eversince we arrived here we never had our picture taken with the God of Fortune statue in the garden

...so today's our chance :)

And it was also our chance to take pictures of the hotel vicinity

Venetian in the background :) Venetian is just right across Sands Cotai/Holiday Inn :)

Our flight is at 16:00 so we still had time to eat Wonton noodles and Congee :)

We left our other friends who will be leaving tomorrow. We had to leave earlier because of previous engagements.

My parents goofing around while waiting for our flight :)

....aaaand here's our plane and the luggages bein loaded are actually ours :)

Philippine Airlines has improved a lot. And so far, of all the safety/emergency explanation videos, theirs is the best. It's so funny :)

We arrived in Manila at 18:10, just in time. A rare moment in deed :)

My husband fetched us in the airport and we went straight to Duty Free Philippines Fiesta Mall :)

I'll post in another entry our purchases :) they deserve an entry of their own haha

China Day 4: Venetian and City of Dreams

Pic of the Day: Strolling Down San Luca District :)

Please note that we go shopping also but i would like to put our hauls in a separate post because these day to day thing are already photo and text heavy as it is :)

Today was a relaxed day, we did not have to wake up so early but our "chieftains" decided to take us to the City of Dreams to watch the Dragon's Treasure Show. Apparently it's a dome show with the whole dome filled with animated graphics... It's like being transported inside the TV or something like that.

We ate breakfast at McDonald's and i had hot chocolate....

And the Sausage McMuffin :)

After breakfast we took a shuttle bus to the City of Dreams

As soon as you enter, the first thing you'll see is this large screen that has water falling on it's surface for an underwater effect because on the screen is a projection of mermaids swimming and other sea creatures. It's so surreal. Here's my sister and a mermaid behind her :)

My mum trying to touch it :)

...and now inside the Dragon's Treasure Show

The story...well there's no story. But it just showed different worlds with different guardian dragons but the graphics were out of this world!! It's not like Universal Studios 4D thing where you have to ride something. You just stand inside the dome and watch around you

It costs MOP$50 but it's really worth it.

After the show, my sister and i just felt like playing around :)

Eating in the City of Dreams is no problem at all. You just have to go to the 2nd floor and visit Food Paradise

Food Paradise is like a food court with a twist. You first have to go around and look at the names of the concessionaires and choose the what you want and list down the code. After that, go to the cashier, give your list or tell them (if you can speak chinese), pay then they give you this piece of paper with the food you want and then go back to the stalls/areas you wanted to get food from, show them the paper and then you're good. It's either they tell you to wait a few minutes or they give it to you right away then they cross out the item on your paper.

As for me i ordered Hainanese chicken which i shared with my sister

If you've ever wondered phat the Macau money looks like, here's a sample of 1 Macau Pataca

The older folks with us decided to separate from us and let us go wherever we wanted so Ryan, Reine and I decided to take a shuttle to The Venetian.

We walked around and checked out the Gondolas which we weren't able to see the evening we visited the Venetian.

Reine and Ryan on the bridge :)

...watching the Gondola from the bridge

And because Venetian is such a beautifil place, we can't leave without taking pictures

Welcome to the Great Hall :)

Later a magician duo performed near the great hall and even asked me to participate at the last part :)

YouTube Video

After this we met up with our families at the Venetian good court and ate Fat Burger :) then we just had our picture taken with the statue people in Sands Hotel who happen to mostly be Filipino and then we retired for the night :) let me close this entry with those pictures.

China Day 3: Downtown Macau and Exotic Foods

Picture of the Day hint: EXOTIC

Today it was a more relaxed morning. After breakfast we rode the taxi to downtown Macau or what they called "Old Macau". Why the term old? Because The Casino/Hotel/Mall (which i hall now call a CHM to make my life easier) area of Macau or the New side is reclaimed area and is actually still in progress. It's like the Las Vegas pf Asia and more of the CHMs are sprouting here and there and basically EVERYWHERE! The old Macau also has CHMs but the reclaimed area was made for expansion literally and figuratively.

From the Taxi on the bridge you can see the Grand Lisboa (note the Portuguese influence of the name), the Lotus shaped CHM.

The exact name of the place we were going to visit was "Senado" or "San Malo" or something like that. As soon as we arrived there we walked to the Chan Kong Kei Plaza de Pasto. It's a small place but the food was good!

And now starts the Exotic Food spree...
Now, the Goose Blood!

It's texture is like gelatin, but it tastes like... I can't describe it but it's not so bad and i wiuld eat it again. The taste is not very strong so it's easy to consume

Our host, Mr. Oscar also recommended that we try this Schweppes Cream Soda

Next exotic food we ate is the GOOSE TONGUE haha..

Not bad... But weird ;)

Though lunch is over, we thoight exotic food spree will end as well but apparently not. Wait til i get to the dinner part of this entry.

After lunch we went to another small place called Café Sang Lei

We drank authentic Nai Cha (Milk Tea). Not the cold ones we drink in Manila but rather, the real hot tea with milk

Remember what I said about Macau being a Portuguese colony before? Well you can still see it in the stuctures here in Old Macau. Here's a Catholic Church in the Plaza. The Sto Domingo Church :)

...and some other buildings :)

From the plaza we took a bus to Wynn, another CHM to watch the Dragon and Money Tree show

They show this every 30 minutes. It was too bad we werent able to see the large fountain show tht this place was famous for.
Here's the tree of posperity. It shows the tree changing colors showing 4 seasons and a natural tree color

After the tree show we sat at the cafe to eat ice cream

After ice cream we proceded to a restaurant in Downtown Macau for our host's birthday celebration . On the way i admired the beautiful city lights. This is a view of Grand Lisboa at night when the lights are all on :)

The taxi driver was a bit rude and i heard that they're nicer to the people who speak cantonese so remind me to learn this dialect next time before coming back here :p

We walked a little to the place

And here it is, the Casa de Pasto Yun Kei

Before i start with the exotic food for this evening, let me show you the chopstick tutorial written on the chopstick wrapper

And now a little briefing regarding the plates:
we have here 3 bowls, a plate and an asian soup spoon. The left most bowl is for rice, other solid foods and the one in the middle is for soup. The third one is a tea cup :) the plate is basically used for disposal of shrimp skin (do you call it skin?), chicken bones, etc.

To continue with our exitic foods, first on the menu was the Authentic Shark's Fin Soup. Someone told me this stuff is illegal but it was served so i don't know.

Next is fried spicy Frog Legs. This one is my favorite. Even in Manila I eat this :)

Next is the pig's intestines which we all thought at first was a suckling pig :) but i'm not very much a fan of this because of the strong smell.

Here's a picture of my sister and the fried chicken head

After dinner we all went our separate ways and went back to our hotel. Now it's time to retire for the night :)
